We are looking for responsible, reliable individuals who, in addition to normal lifeguarding duties of ensuring that our swimmers are safe and our customers are looked after, whilst also keeping the centre clean and preparing the activity areas for our busy programme, will assume the Duty Manager role for our facility when required.

£7.81 or £8.21* per hour (£9.67 when undertaking Duty Manager duties).
£15,886/ £16,699* (£19,672) per annum.

Applications are invited from both NPLQ qualified lifeguards and those who have recently held a lifeguard qualification, who can demonstrate the right attitude, experience of responsibility and a long-term commitment to this role.

What you’ll need:

  • experience as a lifeguard and a proven capability for responsibility, particularly with regards to colleagues and customers
  • a mature and hard-working attitude with the desire to learn and develop
  • a professional yet friendly manner and a genuine interest in working with the public
  • the ability to remain calm under pressure and within a busy environment
  • an interest in working in the Leisure Sector
  • to be reliable, flexible and honest
  • a Pool Plant Operator qualification would be an advantage, but not essential

Recreation Assistant roles are a great way to start your leisure career with the aim to progress into Duty Manager roles and beyond!

We can offer a fantastic working environment and are looking to recruit NPLQ qualified lifeguards who are committed and reliable to join us at Kingsmead Leisure Centre.

If you’re not currently qualified we also have training schemes in place for applicants, if you can demonstrate the right attitude and pass a swim test to have your NPLQ course fully funded.

 Some of your duties will include:

  • Supervising the pool, keeping our bathers and members safe
  • Ensuring Health and safety is at the forefront of all that you do
  • Keeping the pool side and changing areas clean and tidy
  • Looking after our customers – ensuring all visitors have a great experience every time they visit
  • Attending monthly training sessions to keep your knowledge and fitness levels at the required standard

If you’re passionate about climbing and an enthusiastic Climbing Instructor who can work
evenings, weekends and school holiday periods, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for reliable, energetic and enthusiastic Climbing Instructors to deliver sessions in an engaging and safe manner to beginners and improvers at our Whitstable Sports Centre. You’ll need to be an experienced climber with an indoor climbing qualification (RCI, CWI or equivalent) and it would be an added bonus if you’re already trained to deliver the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Preparing and delivering activities for climbing sessions and children’s parties with a focus on safety, participation, and enjoyment.
  • Carrying out inspections of the climbing wall and all activity equipment ensuring it is in good order, stored securely and safely, including keeping accurate records as required.
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to by yourself and those in your care, including health & safety and safeguarding procedures.
  • Undertaking relevant training as and when required.
  • to be able to work flexibly.
