We are looking for trampoline coaches to deliver group sessions within our Children’s Party bookings & School Holiday  programme.

We currently have opportunities for committed and friendly coaches to deliver informative and fun sessions to our younger customers.

As well as being suitably qualified to deliver trampolining sessions, you will be outgoing and possess a positive attitude. You must also be able to demonstrate experience of engaging with, and maintaining assertive management of, groups of young people.

You will need to hold a Level 2 Trampolining Coaching qualification.

Rate of pay will be dependent on skills and experience.

This role requires the job holder to hold a recent (last 12 months) Enhanced DBS check, or be willing to complete one in order to be eligible for consideration for employment.

Catering Assistants

Herons Leisure Centre, Herne Bay

We are seeking reliable individuals to join our catering team on a casual basis, supporting the operation of the cafe through high standards of customer service.  

Shifts will be offered on an ‘as required’ basis to cover holidays, sickness and periods where we need extra staffing for special events such as galas & children’s parties, within our opening times of 8am-6pm on weekdays and 8am-7.30pm on weekends.

£7.38 – £7.83 per hour, dependent on age and qualifications

Duties include serving customers, cooking and food preparation, stocking and cleaning vending machines, checking deliveries of stock and maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the servery and dining areas.

Previous experience of working within a catering environment is essential and a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification is desirable. Training, uniform and personal protective equipment is provided.

Recreation Assistants (Lifeguards)

We are looking for responsible and reliable individuals whose key duties will be ensuring that our swimmers are safe and our customers are looked after, whilst keeping the centre clean and preparing the activity areas for our busy programme.

There is also the opportunity for experienced lifeguards to be considered for a more senior role which, in addition to the above, deputies for and assumes the role of Duty Manager when required.

£7.48 or £7.83* per hour
equivalent to the full-time annual salary of £15,214 / £15,926*

*£7.83 rate of pay is the National Living Wage, which is paid to those aged 25 and over. The £7.48 per hour rate of pay is for NPLQ qualified employees aged under 25.

Applicants should possess maturity and common sense, coupled with enthusiasm and a strong customer focus. Applicants will ideally hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). However, unqualified applicants will also be considered if they are able to demonstrate the right attitude, strong swimming ability and a long-term commitment to this role, in which case Active Life will meet the cost of the NPLQ.

What else you’ll need:

  • experience of and / or an interest in working in the leisure sector;
  • a hard-working attitude with the desire to learn and develop;
  • to be reliable, flexible and honest;
  • a professional yet friendly manner and a genuine interest in working with the public;
  • the ability to remain calm under pressure and within a busy environment.

Applicants must be available to work flexibly over a variable 4 week rota including evenings and (for the 39 hour role) weekends.

We are seeking dynamic, self-assured individuals with previous sales experience to join our Membership Sales team. The successful applicants will maximise our membership sales revenue & customer usage via generation and conversion of leads from customers, corporates & competitors

Salary FTE £18,021 per annum + bonus

Full-time or Job Share (2 x approx. 19 hrs per week) including evenings and weekends.

This role requires a flexible and adaptable approach and the desire to work as part of a team to deliver common aims and objectives. Variety is very much part of the job, with involvement in street marketing, corporate selling, attending promotional events and door dropping of leaflets to name but a few.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Presenting and selling membership packages
  • Supporting new members in the early stages of membership and working with existing members to implement referrals
  • Liaising with other key staff e.g. Gym and Class Instructors, Reception, to ensure the highest levels of customer care
  • Identifying and resolving member queries
  • Developing and maintaining up to date and effective sales materials
  • Accurate and effective administration of sales and membership records
  • Preparing and submitting regular status reports, and delivering presentations to key stakeholders as required

Sales experience is essential, and applicants will ideally have gained this from within the leisure or similar sector and have a passion for, and interest in, fitness. Most importantly, applicants must be able to demonstrate a successful record of accomplishment in frontline, face-to-face selling. This will be combined with a practical understanding of modern promotional techniques and up-to-date fitness knowledge. Resourceful and target driven, the ability to generate and follow up leads is essential. Excellent attention to detail is required alongside the ability to maintain accurate records and reporting administration.

On a personal level, applicants will be presentable and self-assured, able to persuade, influence, and have the ability to win trust and confidence. A sense of humour and an out-going, robust disposition is essential for this role. A good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent) and Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and Outlook) are also required. A Level 2 or above fitness qualification would be desirable, but in the absence of this a demonstrable passion in fitness is essential.

Full training and uniform will be provided. Membership Sales Advisors participate in a Sales Incentive scheme, all employees of Active Life enjoy access to pension, and staff discount schemes including free gym membership (subject to qualifying criteria).

Duty Manager (Internal Vacancy)

Our Duty Managers are responsible for assisting the Centre Manager in the efficient and effective running of the Whitstable Swimming Pool, with a key focus on customer satisfaction, managing staff & the facility’s programme, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and the health and safety of both staff and customers.

PERMANENT FULL-TIME
£19,099 per annum (£9.39 per hour)

We are looking for a confident, positive and motivated individual with previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably within the Leisure Industry. You’ll also need to be calm under pressure, responsible and experienced in ensuring set procedures are followed and monitored.

Excellent communication skills are also essential, as you’ll be looking after customers and managing employees.

Ideally you’ll hold Lifeguarding, First Aid at Work and Pool Plant Operator qualifications. However, fully funded training is available to the successful candidate to achieve these qualifications. You’ll also need to be able to work the contracted hours over a variable working week including evenings and weekends. Availability for cover will also be a required.
