Flexible memberships for everyone. You do not need to be a member to use our facilities, but if you are a regular user then you will benefit from one of our membership options. Whether you’re looking to save some money by paying for your membership annually or looking for a monthly rolling agreement, we offer a great selection of gym memberships to complement different lifestyles and fitness goals.

5 Star

Allowing the freedom to use the centres as much as you want, whenever you want this option is perfect for those visiting more than 6 times per month.

4 Star

Offering significant discounts on all activities, this option is ideal if you visit frequently but cannot justify a monthly membership. For a one off annual 4 Star membership fee, you can save up to £2.00 on each activity per visit.

3 Star

Swim Academy

For children who are regular swimmers and/or taking part in our Nursery, Swim School or Rookie Lifeguard lessons, this membership allows you to spread the payments over the year.

It also includes 4 Star membership and unlimited swimming, allowing your child to swim for free at any of our three swimming pools.

Direct Debit Full Membership Terms and Conditions

1. GENERAL
1.1 Active Life and the member named now agree to the following conditions, which apply throughout the membership period and any authorised extended membership period.
1.2 DEFINITIONS “You” The member named above “We and us” Active Life “Centre” Kingsmead Leisure Centre, Herons Leisure Centre, Whitstable Swimming Pool, Whitstable Sports Centre, the Bay Sports Arena or The Gentle Gym as the case may be. “Agreement” Your application form, these terms and conditions of membership and the Centre Rules.
2. MEMBERSHIP
2.1 Your membership category is for a minimum period of 6 months.
2.2 Your membership is valid at all 5 Centres.
2.3 Your membership is non-transferrable.
2.4 If you join as a couple or family both adults are liable on a joint and individual basis for all of the member’s obligations under this Agreement.
2.5 Only the payer can cancel this membership.
3. REFUND POLICY
3.1 You can cancel your membership within ten (10) days of the initial membership start date and we will refund any membership fees you have paid as long as we receive written notification from you within this time frame and you have not used the centre(s).
3.2 If you should choose to cancel your membership within the allotted 10 days, refund of the initial payment will be made to the account from which the payment was made.
3.3 The refund will take no longer than 10 working days.

4. ADDITIONAL CONCESSIONARY/STUDENT TERMS
4.1 Proof of your eligibility to this membership will be required on an annual basis.
4.2 Concessionary classes may alter during each change to the fitness programme.
5. MEMBERSHIP CARDS
5.1 We will give you a membership card, which you must use each time you enter the Centre or use the facilities.
5.2 If you lose your card, we will charge a nominal fee to replace it.
5.3 We will require your photo to identify you as the card holder.
6. FEES
6.1 Your initial payment will consist of your joining fee and one month in advance.
6.2 Monthly/quarterly instalments will then be due on the 1st / 15th day of each calendar month as per your payment frequency.
6.3 The 4-STAR SWIM monthly membership fee covers the cost of swimming lessons, unlimited swimming during appropriate public sessions, and the benefits of 4-Star membership at all five centres.
7. FREEZE OF MEMBERSHIP
7.1 In exceptional circumstances and at our discretion Active Life can freeze your membership. You should apply in writing to the Membership Administrator at membership@activelifeltd.co.uk
7.2 A freeze of membership is not part of any cancellation notice period.
8. CANCELLING YOUR MEMBERSHIP
8.1 We reserve the right to cancel your membership immediately if:-
8.1.1 You commit a serious or repeated breach of this agreement or the Centre Rules, and if that breach is capable of being remedied and is not remedied within 7 days.
8.1.2 In our reasonable opinion your behaviour is likely to endanger other members, their guests or staff, or adversely affect the centre or our reputation.
8.1.3 If any amounts you owe us remain unpaid 30 days after the due date; or
8.1.4 if you provide us with details you know to be false when applying for membership and those details reasonably affected our decision to grant you membership.
8.2 If we cancel your membership for any reason listed above, we will not refund your joining or membership fees.
8.3 You may cancel your membership by giving 2 months written notice to the Membership Administrator at membership@activelifeltd.co.uk
8.4 To cancel your 4-Star Swimming subscription you must give one months notice in writing to the Membership Administrator.
8.5 Notice will only be valid when you receive written confirmation back from the Membership Administrator.
9. FACILITIES
9.1 You are entitled to use the facilities available to your membership category (please see the membership brochure or website: www.activelifeltd.co.uk/membership).
9.2 You may have to pay additional charges to use certain facilities, which fall outside the remit of your membership, (available in the membership brochure and on our website: www.activelifeltd.co.uk/membership).
9.3 Before use of any exercise equipment you must complete a supervised induction session. We can refuse access to the Centre’s facilities if we consider that your health may be adversely affected by the use of such facilities.
9.4 You must not take part in any physical activity for which you may not be fit. You are responsible for monitoring your own condition during an activity. If you have any concern about your physical condition you must stop the activity and consult your doctor immediately.
9.5 We may change the Centre’s opening times or withdraw any of the facilities at any time if required for tournaments, exhibitions or other activities, or in connection with any repair, alteration or maintenance work, or for any other reason. We will display notices of any minor changes around the Centre. If we need to make any significant change to opening hours of facilities, we will display details around the Centre 1 month before the changes are to take place.
9.6 In the event of cancelled swimming lessons, a pro-rata reduction will be made on the following month’s direct debit payment. We will of course endeavour to do all we can to notify you of class cancellations at the earliest opportunity. Accurate and current contact details help us in this respect.
10. OUR LIABILITY TO YOU
10.1 We shall compensate you, or your estate, in respect of:-
10.1.1 your death, or any personal injury suffered by you to the extent that the same is caused directly by:- (a) our negligence; or (b) our breach of this Agreement or any term implied by law; except where such breach is caused by you or an event outside our reasonable control.
10.2 Subject to clause 9.1 above all liability to you is excluded.
10.3 You must not leave personal property unattended, unless it is secured in one of the lockers provided. 10.4 For the avoidance of doubt, we will not be liable for any personal property which is stolen from the lockers.
11. CENTRE RULES
11.1 You must comply with the centre rules, which form part of this Agreement.
11.2 We may change the Centre Rules at any time. We will post notice of any changes within the centre.
12. CHANGING THIS AGREEMENT
12.1 We reserve the right to change this Agreement at any time. We will give you 3 month’s notice of this in writing to the address you have given us and/or by a notice in the Centre.
13. CONDUCT
13.1 We can prevent anyone entering the Centre if we think their conduct or appearance is inappropriate.
13.2 You must show consideration for other people in the Centre.
