Swim. Cycle. Run.
GO TRI is an initiative launched by Triathlon England to provide people with the opportunity to take part in multisport event regularly and at a minimal cost. The events are short (200m pool swim, 6km cycle and 2km run), easy to access and repeated so that individuals can see progress if they wish to do it again.
We are running 6 events in 2018, starting in April and roughly once a month until August. The dates can be found on the Timetable below.
The entry fee for each event is £9.00, or £6.00 if you are an Active Life member. The events are low key, therefore no finish gantry, goody bags etc. Participants will be timed and results will be sent out within a couple of days, all included in the price.
The events will start at either Kingsmead Leisure Centre, Whitstable Swimming Pool or Herons Leisure Centre. All swimming is pool based and supported by Triathlon coaches and lifeguards.
Who are the events for?
GO TRI events are for people to discover the sport and try it out. It will give you the achievement of completing a multisport event in a safe and reassuring environment. They are open to anyone over the age of 14 and who are new or have never done anything to do with Triathlons or Aquathlons before. If you have competed in a Triathlon before, these events are not suited to racing, with the bike routes only really suited to beginners.

Active Life Tri Club
The Active Life Triathlon Club is located at Herons Leisure Centre in Herne Bay. The club are a group of approximately 200 members that train both independently and together across the Canterbury District. Many members compete under the Active Life Triathlon club banner in Kent and Regional competitions but it’s mainly having others within to train with that motivates most of the members.
To see what’s current with the club, why not take a look at the Active Life Triathlon Club Facebook group or the page which includes a calendar of training that members do in and outside of the centres.

The Active Life Pier to Pier Swim
The Active Life Pier to Pier swim is a 750m, 1.5km or 3km swim beginning at Hampton Pier in Herne Bay and will head out to the Pier in Herne Bay and back.
The timed sea swim is a great way for both experienced and inexperienced swimmers to complete a swim in a sheltered yet challenging route across the coast to Herne Bay’s iconic Pier.
The full Pier to Pier 3km distance is a challenging swim for the novice open water swimmer. However, with 3 options to choose from, it is suited to anyone wishing to test themselves. The views of the beach and sense of achievement will be well worth the effort.
Open Water Tri Training Day
The half day open water tri training day will be taking place on Saturday June 23rd 2018 on the same course as the Oysterman and Surf N Turf Aquathlon events. The day will include skills, drills and tips on how to complete an open water triathlon as well as some of the more tecnical elements in each of the disciplines for those who want to improve their times.
The day will start at 9am finishing at 1pm with a chance to put all the elements into practice. The cost to those entering the Oysterman or the Surf N Turf is just £10 if booked at the time of entering those events or £20 otherwise, and can be added to your event booking for one of those events.
If you are not doing one of those events but wish to take part in the training day please visit the event booking page to register.
Splash 'n' Stagger
The Splash and Stagger is a unique and well established annual event consisting of a 3 mile run/stagger then a 400 metres swim at the end to cool off and unwind!
The event is in aid of Whitstable RNLI and it is hoped that each runner will help to raise money on top of the entrants fee. However, it is not obligatory.
It is open to all ages with previous entrants from 4 year olds through to 90 years old. This year it will be on Saturday 10th September 2017. The walk/run starts from Whitstable Swimming Pool at 3.30-3.45pm respectively, out to Longrock and back followed by 16 lengths of the pool. The event is not timed as it is not a race.
The event is run by Active Life staff and RNLI volunteers along with voluntary support from off duty police and paramedic staff.
The cost of the event is £10 with any money raised going to the RNLI at Whitstable. Each participant will receive a goodie bag which has been donated by various local companies.
